Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavna Award

Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavna Award given on the birthday of Late Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi on August 20 every year. It is given for outstanding contributions made by an individual or an association to promote communal harmony, fight terrorism and violence.

The award carries Rs. 2.5 lakhs and a citation.

Teesta Setalvad ( journalist from Mumbai editor of Communalism Combat) and Harsh Mander(Former Indian Administrative Service officer Harsh Mander was recently in the spotlight for an article detailing the Gujarat communal carnage) have been jointly selected for the 10th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award for their outstanding contribution in promoting peace and harmony in the country. by the chairman of the award committee, former Chief Justice A M Ahmadi.

Mr S.N. Subba Rao has been selected for the 11th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award for his outstanding contribution towards communal harmony and national integration through the National Youth Projects Movement.
